METU x VEB2023 ECoC collaboration

In the framework of the cooperation between Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) and the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capitals of Culture (VEB2023 ECoC) program, METU’s professional expertise supports the joint project works of students, teachers and realizers and partners of the program.

METU graphic design students' publication designs

Students of METU’s Graphic Design BA and MA programs could get involved in the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capitals of Culture project in several courses. One of these tasks had been the creation of a concept design for a VEB2023 publication.

During this process, students developed exciting and innovative designs in consideration of the conceptual guidelines of the program. The students came up with numerous creative solutions that were in line with the guidelines which mainly focused on community building, volunteering, tradition, innovation and sustainability. Their works also included humor hidden in language and dialects, as well as reflections on the region of Lake Balaton.

The students presented the mock-ups and completed visual designs to the VEB2023 staff on 7 June, in person, in Veszprém.

The designs presented showed diversity, innovative approaches and creative execution, with the use of design language appealing to young people.

The next phase of the project promises more excitement, as one or more of the presented design works may be made available to the public in 2023.
