Our Libraries

Your Library!

We make compulsory and optional literature available, offer assistance with our subscribed databases, and provide relevant information for study and research. You can access self-service copying, scanning, printing, and computers in the library. For leisure time, you can find fiction and lighter nonfiction books, as well as movies.

The Library is an integral part of the University. It is our role to provide academic sources of information, both print and electronic, matching the educational profile of the campuses. We have two libraries on our campuses, as well as a Library Point on the Infopark campus.

Our libraries are closed only during the winter and summer breaks, Sundays, and national (bank) holidays.

What can you find in the library?

1. Print and electronic documents relevant to the academic profile (programmes) of each campus. You can search our catalogue here;
2. Books for language learning, dictionaries, basic computer studies;
3. Fiction and non-fiction books, DVDs;
4. Newspapers and magazines both in Hungarian and English – click here for a list;
5. Theses and Diploma Works successfully defended in previous years in our online repository. You can access these anywhere after logging in with your usual METU login details. Exceptional (exemplary) theses are found through our CooSpace Scene.

The library of METU...

1. Provides access to the literature necessary for the University's programmes,
2. Assists the educational activity at the institution,
3. Creates and publishes useful online information for its patrons on its website and CooSpace Scene,
4. Provides training to students that helps them develop their digital literacy and facilitates the spread of e-culture,
5. Develops its Hungarian and foreign-language database services,
6. Creates and publishes guides for the subscribed databases, accessible online,
7. Collects, describes and provides to its patrons the print and digital documents in its library catalogue.

The vision of the library

1. We intend to provide environment and set of services suitable for learning the methods of knowledge acquisition and information processing, as well as practicing the use of programme-specific information sources.

Mission statement

1. The library of Budapest Metropolitan University is an integral part of the institution. With its collections, services, information systems, and trained professional staff, it is an essential department at the University. Its mission is to assist the broad spectrum of educational and research activities carried out at the University, as well as providing the knowledge basis for life-long learning. Its activities are all time aligned with the general aims set forth by the strategy of the University. Its services are shaped by the needs of the educational activity at the institution.

Requests

1. Our students also shape our services and collection of books. This is the origin of our Reading Corner, which contains a selection of fiction, lighter non-fiction, and books that help you develop your creativity in your leisure time.
2. Send us your ideas, so we can spend part of our budget according to your needs. You can drop your requests in our Wishboxes located in the libraries, or send them to us via e-mail at lib@metropolitan.hu. You can also send us feedback and other suggestions.
