The STEAMTeach project at METU has been successfully completed

The substantive professional work in the project started in the spring of 2021. First, STEAM education was mapped, based on the situation in Hungary. The existing innovative and effective educational methodologies and tools were identified, as well as the assessment of EU key competences among teachers teaching STEM subjects. In addition, test modules were prepared in various STEM topics, with the cooperation of the experts participating in the project.

Our university conducted research and developed a training and development program on the topic of "Development of a new methodology of STEAM education and promotion of STEAM education in international cooperation". 

The realized goals of the project: 

1. Development of an intercultural training program for practicing teachers teaching high school STEAM subjects. 
2. Test implementation of the training program with the involvement of 60 teachers from Hungary 
3. Development of a Transcultural Professional Development Framework for the purpose of evaluating the training program 
4. Acquaintance and exchange of international good practices between teachers and trainers 
5. Evaluation of the practice of high school STEAM education, including the use of new, innovative technologies and tools (micro:bit, GeoGebra, 4D frame, 3D printing, laser-cutting, VR, AR) 
6. The project involves the involvement of 60 teachers teaching STEAM subjects, who participated in the trainings presenting the new methodology and related events: 
7. I. Teacher training day: November 6, 2021 
8. II. Teacher training day: March 26, 2022. 
9. III. Teacher training day: February 4, 2023. 

As part of the project, METU's professional staff visited Mátészalka on June 2, 2023, where they gave a presentation on STEAM at the invitation of the Mátészalka Vocational Training Center Mechanical Engineering College. Both high school students and teachers participated in the multiplication event. The audience of 60 people could be part of the practical presentation of the STEAM education methodology developed by our experts. The braver students could try interesting physics experiments themselves. 



At the end of the project, international participants of the STEAMTeach partnership, Spanish, Finnish, Austrian and Greek colleagues, visited Budapest Metropolitan University between July 22-23, 2023. At the project closing event, the achieved results and the actions related to closing the project were discussed. In addition to professional work, the meeting was characterized by a good mood, where the partners presented to each other their work over the past three years.
