Budapest Metropolitan University is launching a scholarship program entitled "Your future in your hands".
The University will award scholarships to first-year students of Finance and Economics, Business, Communication or Tourism programmes on Bachelor and Master degree level in English. The aim of the scholarship is to improve the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy by promoting the Hungarian approach and application of economic and social sustainability. Participants will convey the knowledge, values and reputation of Budapest Metropolitan University to the public. The scholarship opportunity will provide access to the knowledge and education needed to achieve sustainability and economic competitiveness to a wider audience.
The amount of scholarship:
Students participating in the scholarship programme will receive a grant of EUR 2600 which will be deducted from their tuition fees.
Eligibility criteria:
To be eligible to apply for the scholarship programme, applicants must fully meet the following conditions:
- Applicants must start their studies at the Faculty of Finance and Economics, Business, Communication or Tourism in the academic semester at METU, in an English-language bachelor's or master's degree course, full-time, with an active student status, self-financed.
- Applicants applying for a bachelor's degree must have completed secondary school or be in their final year of secondary school at the time of application.
- Applicants applying for a Master's degree must have a BSc/BA degree or are in the final year of BSc/BA studies at the time of application.
- Applicants for Bachelor's and Master's programmes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 60%.
- For secondary school students, they must have at least 60% in the qualifying examination for admission to higher education,
- for undergraduate students, a cumulative result of at least 60% of the highest average of the undergraduate level.
- The 60% cumulative average is determined on the basis of the assessment criteria of the institution issuing the certificate of graduation/university academic record. In the absence of such a system, the evaluation will be based on the most widely used evaluation criteria in the country of the institution's headquarters.
- Candidates undertake to be the ambassadors of the "Your Future in Your Hands" scholarship programme, promoting the knowledge, values and reputation of Budapest Metropolitan University to the wider public.
- Submit the application documents by the deadline.
- Participate in the application interview via Zoom online platform, organized by the University to test the motivation and English language skills. The English online interview is an oral test of the scholarship application and applies to all applicants.
Application documents to be submitted:
- CV: Format requirements: 1 to 2 pages maximum, in .pdf format.
- Completed and signed application form.
- Motivation letter of at least 1500, but no more than 2500 characters (with spaces) in English, describing the applicant's relevant experience, objectives and personal ambitions, as well as the reasons why he/she would like to study at Budapest Metropolitan University and his/her future goals for the use of the knowledge acquired. Format requirement: Times New Roman font, font size 12, 1,5 line spacing, in pdf format
- An essay of at least 2,000 characters and up to 2,500 characters (with spaces) in English, describing an example of sustainable economic development that should be followed. Format requirement: Times New Roman font, 12 point font size, 1.5 line spacing, pdf format
- Essay topics must be specifically related to the topic indicated in the call for proposals, i.e. a good example of sustainable economic development.
- Essay topics:
- - Sustainable financial models.
- - Ecotourism: benefits and environmental impact.
- - The role of education and awareness raising in sustainability and environmental awareness.
How and when to submit the applications
Applicants for the scholarship programme must upload their application via the online application platform: DreamApply: https://apply.metropolitan.hu/.
Evaluation and assessment of applications
- The University's International Admissions Office is responsible for the complete submission of the application file, the oral interview and the evaluation of certificates, CVs and cover letters submitted to prove compliance with the application requirements.
- The University’s International Sales Office is responsible of the finalisation and completion of the signed application forms, contracts and Compensation Letters.
- The University's International Admissions Office will send the copies of the certificates of eligibility, the results of the oral interview and the essays to the Evaluation Committee, composed of experts appointed by the University, for evaluation.
- The Evaluation Committee validates the proposal made by the International Admissions Office. The Evaluation Committee
- will put its decision in writing in the form of a decision and send it to the International Selection Office within 5 days of the decision and the International Admission Office will send it to the scholarship applicant within 2 days.
- There is no right of appeal against the decision of the Evaluation Committee.
- Exclusionary criteria:
- Applicants are not eligible to participate in the scholarship programme if:
- submitted their application after the deadline;
- submitted an incomplete application;
- fails to pay the tuition fees within 10 days of the date of issue of the invoice.
Deadlines:
- Applications can be submitted until 30th of August, 2024.
- End of re-submitting period: 15th of September, 2024.
